TheAndhra Pradesh government is committed to promoting industrial growth while ensuring that surplus ethanol is used strictly for genuine industrial purposes under a robust regulatory framework, Principal Secretary, Revenue (Excise), Mukesh Kumar Meena said on Friday.

Mukesh Kumar Meena made the remarks during a meeting chaired by Minister for Mines & Geology and Excise, Kollu Ravindra, with representatives of the Ethanol Manufacturers Association at the State Secretariat.

He assured industry representatives that the Government would evolve appropriate policy measures to address their concerns without compromising regulatory safeguards.

During the meeting, the Ethanol Manufacturers Association informed the Government that Andhra Pradesh has built significant ethanol production capacity. However, limited procurement by Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) under the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) programme has led to the accumulation of surplus stocks, affecting the financial viability of ethanol manufacturing units. The association requested the government to permit the sale of surplus ethanol to approved industrial consumers, including pharmaceutical, paint and chemical industries, as well as eligible private sector oil marketing companies.
