AndhraPradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) is accelerating digital services to make electricity bill payments faster, safer and more transparent, stated its CMD Siva Sankar Lotheti.

He said as part of the push, APSPDCL now supports payments via its official website and mobile app, dynamic QR codes, WhatsApp Governance (Manamitra), net banking, debit and credit cards. The move ends long queues at collection centres and enables consumers to pay bills within minutes from home.

The mobile app also lets users view power consumption, past payment history and apply for new connections. APSPDCL supplies power to about 61.32 lakh consumers across Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts. Monthly billing totals roughly Rs 520 crore, of which about 49.5% is paid online; the company aims to reach 100% digital payments in phases, he said.

To promote digital transactions, APSPDCL is prioritising online payments even at Electricity Revenue Offices and has begun closing bill collection centres gradually to reduce cash handling, he said.

CMD Siva Sankar urged consumers to use only official app or website, avoid unknown links or fake apps, and prioritise online payments for safe, fast and transparent service.
