TirupatiUrban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman C Divakar Reddy said a permanent solution will be provided for the drainage problems in Koramenugunta.

On Friday, he participated in the ground-breaking ceremony to start construction of a new sewage drain funded by Tirupati City Development fund. The project, costing about Rs 49.5 lakh, will build new sewage channels to stop sewage water entering houses and streets. TTD Board member Panabaka Lakshmi, Greenery Beautification Chairperson Sugunamma, Yadav Corporation Chairman Narasimha Yadav and Commissioner Sarada Devi attended the event. Speaking at the event, TUDA chairman Divakar Reddy said Koramenugunta had been neglected by earlier administrations and that the area suffered because of poor drainage. He said sewage and rainwater did not flow properly, causing serious trouble to locals, especially during rainy season. He said the current coalition government is developing all nine constituencies under TUDA equally, not limiting projects to expose a single constituency for political reasons.

Officials said proposals for more drains and road works in Koramenugunta and other areas are ready and work will start soon. They also ordered project teams to maintain full quality during construction.
