The state leadership was told that the focus should be on “energising the party workers, strengthening local leadership, and sharpening the party’s grassroots machinery. During every meeting the model citied is the exemplary role played by party cadre from the grassroots in West Bengal and party making unprecedented gains with the strengthening the organisational structure in most adverse circumstances,” said a member of the state party executive.

The state party chief N. Ramachander Rao said Telangana is very much in the party national leadership’s focus. Union Minister Amit Shah had called on him right in the middle of his West Bengal electioneering. He not only conveyed greetings on his birthday but also said he would be coming to the state. “It shows how serious the national party is about Telangana,” he said.

Meanwhile, the party has already completed a training programme to strengthen the organisational structure in most districts and is operating in mission mode to complete all booth-level committees ahead of the local polls, with the sole objective of winning the civic polls.

Shah’s visit is meant to focus not only on organisational strengthening but also on the BJP’s multi-pronged approach in Telangana: combining development, organisational consolidation, and mass outreach to expand its political footprint ahead of the civic polls and eventually finalise its strategy for the state Assembly elections.
