Districtcollector Adarsh Surabhi on Friday called for the strict implementation of the ‘Dry Day’ programme—conducted every Friday to prevent spread of seasonal diseases during the monsoon—with active participation of the public. He joined the ‘Dry Day’ in the 26th ward (Teachers Colony) here.

Surabhi inspected how the health staff, ASHA workers and Anganwadi staff were conducting door-to-door outreach to raise public awareness about hygiene, mosquito prevention, measures to avoid water stagnation and fever prevention.

He directed officials to expedite fever surveys during the season, promptly identify individuals showing symptoms of fever and provide medicare; to ensure proper sanitation and garbage removal in villages and colonies, to take steps to eliminate stagnant water, and create widespread awareness regarding hygiene.

He instructed them to undertake anti-larval measures to curb mosquito-breeding; emphasised the need to educate the public on hygiene practices to prevent dengue, malaria and typhoid.

Surabhi held a review meeting with the booth-level officers regarding the Special Intensive Revision. He directed officers to register every eligible voter, verify details of deceased voters and collect/submit relevant records on time; to examine every application in accordance with rules to ensure the voter list is completely accurate.

Officials are to visit voters and raise awareness among those unable to fill forms, assisting them in the process and to promptly collect the completed forms.
