Hyderabad: Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday launched a scathing attack on BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR), alleging that the former ruling party was “daydreaming” about returning to power despite losing public confidence.

Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Chamala said KTR was behaving as if elections had already been announced and the BRS had already secured victory. He claimed that the Congress was receiving positive feedback in surveys related to the Jubilee Hills by-election and recalled KTR’s earlier prediction of a 50,000-vote victory margin for the BRS.

However, Chamala said the BRS suffered defeats in the Lok Sabha elections and lost its sitting seats in Jubilee Hills and Cantonment. He asserted that people of Telangana had rejected the BRS and were supporting the Congress government’s ‘Praja Palana’ initiative.

Targeting former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Chamala alleged that KCR failed to fulfil his promise of appointing a Dalit as Chief Minister after Telangana’s formation. Taking a dig at KTR’s press conferences, he said the BRS leader was acting like “Pulikeshi” while trying to protect the party cadre and dreaming of becoming Chief Minister.

Questioning former minister Harish Rao’s remarks on irrigation, Chamala asked whether he could clear pending irrigation project dues if given the Irrigation portfolio for three months. He alleged that the Medigadda barrage had become a “graveyard” under the previous government.
