BRSLP Deputy Leader T Harish Rao launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing the Congress government of deliberately allowing Telangana’s Godavari waters to flow into Andhra Pradesh while farmers across the state suffer due to water scarcity.

Harish Rao said that while the Chief Minister may be accustomed to breaking promises and changing political positions, his own 25-year political career stands as proof of consistency and commitment.

“Breaking promises and switching parties may be your political culture, Revanth Reddy. It is certainly not mine. Your 20-year political career and my 25-year political journey speak for themselves. Unlike you, I do not make one promise under oath and another without it,” he said.

Questioning the CM over the farm loan waiver promise made in the name of Lord Sri Rama at Bhadrachalam, Harish Rao asked whether even farmers in Khammam district where Revanth Reddy addressed a public meeting had received complete loan waiver benefits.

He also questioned why the Chief Minister continued to display anger and political aggression in every public meeting despite repeatedly claiming that politics could wait until the final year of the government’s term. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government was attempting to cover up its failure to lift irrigation water from Kannapalli through misinformation and false propaganda against the Kaleshwaram project.

He pointed out that the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages withstood floods of nearly 28 lakh cusecs in the past, and questioned why the government was now attempting to create fear when the present flood flow was only about one lakh cusecs.

He demanded that the government immediately utilise the existing Kannepalli Pump House to lift water through Annaram and Sundilla into Yellampalli Reservoir instead of allowing valuable Godavari water to flow downstream.

Drawing a comparison with Andhra Pradesh, Harish Rao said the neighbouring state had already utilised more than 60 TMC of Godavari water through Pattiseema, Tadipudi, Purushothapatnam and Pushkara Lift Irrigation Schemes by operating its pumping systems continuously.

While Andhra Pradesh has been operating all 24 Pattiseema pumps round-the- clock, Telangana has kept its high-capacity Bahubali pumps idle despite having sufficient water availability, he alleged. He questioned whether there existed any “hidden understanding” behind the government’s refusal to operate the Kannapalli pumps.
