StationGhanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari on Thursday assured that the Godavari water will soon be brought to Velair mandal through the Gandi Ramaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, enabling farmers to cultivate two crops a year. He said rural development, farmers’ welfare and creation of basic infrastructure remain the government’s top priorities.

Srihari inaugurated several development works in Shalapalli, Lakshmi thanda, Banglapalli and Gollakishtampalli villages of the mandal. The works include Indiramma houses, CC roads, a gram mahila samakhya building, and a gram panchayat building.

Later, at the Velair Rythu Vedika, he distributed cheques worth Rs 11.01 lakh to 11 beneficiaries under the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes and assistance worth Rs 5.87 lakh to 20 beneficiaries under the CM’s Relief Fund.

He said Shalapalli had been selected as a pilot village for focused development. Development works worth over Rs 4 crore had been taken up in the village alone his election as MLA. He urged people to compare those who neglected the constituency’s development with those who are working sincerely for its progress.

He said substantial funds had been sanctioned for road development in the mandal; works would commence shortly. The Gandi Ramaram Lift-I works were progressing rapidly; the Godavari water would be brought to the mandal immediately after their completion, ensuring irrigation for two crops.

Srihari said development works worth Rs 5.25 crore were being taken up for the Kasturba School at Gollakishtampalli. Bus services, CC roads, Indiramma houses and GP building had been provided after he became MLA.

He promised to sanction a women’s community hall, a compound wall for the GP office, and additional CC roads within a month. He announced tahsildar and MPD offices had been sanctioned for the newly formed Velair mandal; foundations for the buildings would be laid soon.
