PalakurthiMLA Yashaswini Reddy said on Thursday that initiatives, such as the distribution of free computers, play a vital role in providing quality digital education to students in government schools. She appreciated efforts of service organisations and corporate institutions in supporting the education sector; called for greater collaboration to strengthen digital learning.

Reddy attended a programme organised by the Lions Club, with the support of Infosys, at Nithin Bhavan in Thorrur, where free computers were distributed to government schools. She handed over computers to representatives of the schools. She said computer literacy has become essential in today’s technology-driven world; students in government schools should also have access to digital education on a par with those in private institutions.

She stressed the need to provide infrastructure to equip students with modern tech skills. Describing education as the strongest foundation for social development, she said contribution of service organisations and corporate institutions under their social responsibility initiatives would significantly improve infrastructure in government schools. Such initiatives would help students develop digital skills and prepare them to meet the challenges of an increasingly competitive world.

She lauded the Lions Club and Infosys for providing computers and urged more service/corporate institutions to support educational development and strengthen government schools. Representatives of the club, officials from the Education department, teachers, students attended.
