NationalCPI secretary Palla Venkat Reddy on Thursday said the alliance between the Congress and the Communist parties would continue only if the government sincerely addresses public issues. He urged the government to demonstrate its commitment to people-centric governance by issuing pattas and constructing Indiramma houses for the poor of Gundla Singaram.

Reddy, along with CPI State assistant secretary Takkallapalli Srinivasa Rao and MLC Nellikanti Satyam, visited Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy Nagar at Gundla Singaram, where houses were recently demolished. They inspected the demolished Sudhakar Reddy Bhavan and hundreds of huts, interacted with the affected families, and enquired about their problems.

Addressing a meeting chaired by CPI district assistant secretary Thota Bikshapathi, Reddy demanded the government fulfil the poll promises.

He criticised the government for demolishing the huts after coming to power despite promising an “Indiramma Rajyam”. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy should emulate the welfare-oriented approach of former CM YSR by addressing the concerns of the poor and earning their trust.

He demanded eligible poor living in huts at Gundla Singaram and across the State be provided pattas and Indiramma houses.

Srinivasa Rao stated that there is no tank buffer land in survey nos 174 and 175 of Gundla Singaram and recalled that during the tenure of YSR, sites were allotted to 1,360 poor in the area. Poor families have been residing there in huts for the past five years following the party’s land rights movement.

Satyam assured the issue of allotting pattas to every eligible family in Gundla Singaram would be taken to the CM’s notice and raised in the council. He advised the poor to continue struggle until they secure their rightful pattas.
