Thefarmers in Rangareddy district are found busy these days in registering their names in the Farmers’ Registry at one hand and running for enrolling their names under SIR programme on the other hand.

The farmers in the district were told to get their names registered in the Farmers’ Registry as part of the ambitious digital agriculture mission (AgriStack) jointly introduced by the centre and state governments.

According to officials, registration of names in the Farmers’ Registry is mandatory for all the farmers in the district to avail benefits under various welfare schemes and services pertain to agriculture sector. The officials were also told to ensure that every farmer owning land in his or her name and performing agrarian activities must have their names registered in the Farmers’ Registry and obtain a unique farmer ID so to avail welfare schemes, investment assistance, crop insurance, subsidies, bank loans and other benefits being extended under agriculture sector.

Additional Collector (Revenue) Chandra Reddy, while addressing a review meeting with the officials concerned said officials should ensure that every eligible farmer in the district must obtain Unique Farmer Identification through enrolment of their names in Farmers’ Registry.

To realise this goal, he said, the officials must conduct village-wise special registration camps to help farmers get their names registered using online portal.

The review meeting at the Collectorate complex saw the gathering of Additional Directors of Agriculture (ADAs), Mandal Agriculture Officers (MAOs) and Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs).

“The officials must complete the registration process within the stipulated time leaving no scope for any negligence,” The additional collector warned.

The farmers were told to get their Aadhaar cards, mobile number and Pattadar Passbook along with that while attending the registration camps that help them get their names registered through biometric process.

The additional collector said, “All the benefits under welfare schemes meant for farmers will be processed only through the Unique Farmers Identification issued to the eligible farmers in the future. As such, it is mandatory of every farmer in the district to get their names registered.”

The additional Collector suggested the farmers to approach the concerned Agricultural Extension Officer (AEO) and complete the registration process immediately without fail. “The registration service being launched by the agricultural department is completely free and all the farmers should avail the opportunity,” said the Additional Collector.
