ChiefMinister A Revanth Reddy has announced the launch of Telangana Sports Academy in 2028. The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the state government would provide jobs and also cash rewards to the sports aspirants, who win the medals to the country at the international level.

Addressing after launching Young India Physical Education and Sports University at Gachibowli sports district on Thursday, the Chief Minister appealed to the youth to pursue sports as a bright career as the government is ready to provide employment to those who win medals in the international sports events.

Revanth Reddy highlighted that state government was already encouraging high-performing athletes by providing them with both jobs and cash prizes. The youth are the nation's wealth and they must put in 100 per cent effort to achieve the goals in the sports.

The Chief Minister noted that the big worrying factor is India was still lagging behind other countries in winning the medals in the Olympics. The CM attributed lack of good sports policies by the successive governments could be one of the main reasons to the poor performance of India in the international sport events.

The Chief Minister praised popular athlete PT Usha for winning many medals in the international events.

Since India is not yet recognised globally as a sporting powerhouse, Revanth Reddy said that the Telangana government took the initiative of introducing a dedicated sports policy and also launched the Sports University under a public-private partnership model. The state government was already making efforts to host Olympic events in the Telangana state in the future, the Chief minister said.
