DistrictCollector Ila Tripathi said that government schools are providing quality education on par with private institutions and urged parents to enrol their children in government schools to secure a bright future. She made the remarks during a visit to the Zilla Parishad Government High School at Borgaon (P) in Mopal mandal on Wednesday. Interacting with parents, the Collector expressed satisfaction over the increasing number of admissions in the school. Several parents informed her that they had shifted their children from private schools to government schools due to quality education and the high fees charged by private institutions.

The Collector said government schools were achieving excellent academic results and cited the Borgaon (P) school’s 87 per cent pass rate in the Class X examinations as an example. She noted that the State government was giving top priority to education and continuously improving infrastructure and teaching standards in government schools.

She highlighted that students were receiving free textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, breakfast and mid-day meals. The government was also conducting regular training programmes for teachers to improve teaching skills.

During the visit, Ila Tripathi directed officials to take steps to expand the school by acquiring adjacent land, as existing classrooms were insufficient for the growing student strength. She also interacted with students and distributed prizes, textbooks and notebooks.
