Transportand BC Welfare Minister PonnamPrabhakar, along with SC and Minority Welfare Minister AdluriLaxman Kumar, reviewed RTC services in Karimnagar on Wednesday by travelling in a bus from Vageshwari Engineering College to the NTR statue. The ministers interacted with students, passengers, drivers and conductors to assess public transport services and gather feedback.

Speaking on the occasion, PonnamPrabhakar said the State government had increased RTC services during school and college hours to meet the growing demand from students. He noted that passenger traffic had increased significantly following the launch of the Mahalakshmi scheme, which provides free bus travel for women. To accommodate the growing number of commuters, the government had introduced new buses and expanded services on additional routes.

The Minister said women were saving between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 every month through the free travel scheme.

He added that the government had resolved several long-pending issues of RTC employees and initiated the process for trade union elections.

Highlighting welfare initiatives, PonnamPrabhakar said the government was implementing programmes such as free electricity, LPG subsidy, RythuBharosa assistance and farm loan waivers while focusing on improving education and public services across Telangana.
