UnionMinister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, along with Minister for Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh, laid the foundation stone on Wednesday for the construction of a Railway over Bridge (ROB) at Nidamarru at an estimated cost of Rs 142 crore.

The ROB will be constructed in place of Railway Level Crossing Gate No. 14 on the Mangalagiri–Nidamarru road along the Namburu–Mangalagiri railway section. The project is expected to provide seamless connectivity between Mangalagiri, Amaravati Capital Region, and the Tadikonda constituency.

The railway crossing at Nidamarru has long been a major bottleneck for commuters due to frequent gate closures, causing traffic congestion and delays. Recognising the hardships faced by the public, Minister Nara Lokesh took the initiative to secure government approval and sanction for the project.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said the ROB would significantly improve transportation infrastructure in the region and enhance connectivity to the State capital. Once completed, it will considerably reduce travel time and distance between Mangalagiri and Amaravati, benefiting thousands of daily commuters.

Residents of Betapudi, Nidamarru, Kuragallu and Neerukonda villages are expected to benefit greatly from the project through faster and safer travel.

The proposed ROB will be constructed at a height of 10 metres above the railway track and will have a total length of 767.50 metres, including 362 metres towards Amaravati and 405.50 metres towards Mangalagiri. The structure will be equipped with crash barriers on both sides, a central divider, and service roads with drainage facilities. Including the service roads, the total width of the ROB will be 28 metres.

MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad, Padmasali Welfare and Development Corporation Chairman Nandam Abaddaiah, TDP Politburo member Guttikonda Dhananjay, TDP Guntur Parliamentary Constituency General Secretary Pothineni Srinivasa Rao, and Mangalagiri TDP President Padavala Mahesh were among those present.
