GunturMunicipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner K. Mayur Ashok has suspended four Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for remaining absent from the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls without obtaining prior permission from the concerned authorities.

According to official orders issued on Wednesday, the suspended officials are V. Raj Kumar, attached to Polling Station No. 243, and K Nagaraju, attached to Polling Station No. 164, both from the Guntur West Assembly Constituency. Dharani, attached to Polling Station No. 225, and B. Pawan Kumar, attached to Polling Station No. 72, from the Guntur East Assembly Constituency, were also suspended.

The Commissioner stated that the officials failed to attend the crucial Special Intensive Revision duties, which are essential for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the electoral rolls. He stressed that election-related responsibilities are of utmost importance and warned that strict action would be taken against any staff member found neglecting such duties.

K Mayur Ashok reiterated the administration’s commitment to conducting the revision process efficiently and transparently. He said all officials involved in the exercise must discharge their responsibilities diligently and adhere to the prescribed guidelines.

The Commissioner also appealed to citizens to cooperate fully with Booth Level Officers who visit households as part of the electoral roll revision exercise. He urged residents to provide the required information and documents promptly to facilitate the smooth and successful completion of the revision process.

The Special Intensive Revision is a key exercise aimed at updating voter records and ensuring that eligible citizens are accurately included in the electoral rolls ahead of future elections. Authorities have emphasized that public participation and the active involvement of field-level staff are critical to the success of the programme.
