A training programme on the Pulse Polio vaccination campaign was held on Wednesday at the New Lecture Gallery Auditorium in the Kurnool Medical College premises.
The session was organized for urban ward health workers of Kurnool town as part of the preparations for the upcoming National Pulse Polio Programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Immunization Officer Dr Uma emphasized the importance of ensuring the success of the upcoming nationwide Pulse Polio drive scheduled for June 28.
She stated that all eligible children must be administered polio drops without fail. She also highlighted that arrangements have been made to set up vaccination booths in Anganwadi centres, schools, as well as special mobile vaccination units at key public locations such as bus stands and railway stations to ensure wider coverage.
Public Health Officer Dr Raghu also addressed the participants and appealed for full participation in the campaign.
He urged that all children from newborns up to five years of age must be administered two drops of polio vaccine during the programme scheduled on the 28th.
He further stated that for children who miss vaccination on Sunday, health teams will conduct door-to-door visits on Monday and Tuesday to ensure complete coverage. He stressed that the initiative is crucial for safeguarding the bright future of children and achieving 100 percent immunization targets.
The programme also included detailed instructions on the administration of polio drops and necessary precautions to be taken during the vaccination process.
Medical officers from urban primary health centres, secretariat health workers, field supervisors Shiva, Paul, and Mohan, along with projectionist Khaleel, participated in the training session.
Officials reiterated their commitment to making the Pulse Polio campaign a complete success in the district.
