TheSultan Bazar police have registered a case against 12 Bachelor of Dental Surgery students for allegedly ragging junior students at Osmania Medical College. The incident reportedly came to light after first-year students lodged formal complaints alleging harassment by senior students.

According to the police, a case was registered against 12 final-year BDS students under the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act following an official complaint lodged by college principal Sanjeev Singh Yadav. The students of Government Dental College are currently accommodated in the Osmania Medical College hostel, where the alleged incident took place.

Taking a serious view of the matter, the college administration initiated immediate disciplinary action and suspended the 12 final-year BDS students for six months for subjecting their juniors to physical and mental harassment.

The principal said first-year students complained that seniors ordered them to bring cigarettes, food items, and pick up deliveries. Students also alleged they faced physical punishments, including wall-chairs and sit-ups, and were occasionally forced to miss regular academic activities and clinical postings.

Meanwhile, the Sultan Bazar police have registered the case, counselled those involved, and are investigating whether more students were actively involved.
