Specialchief secretary to the Chief Minister K Vijayanand on Tuesday directed officials to ensure the timely completion and commissioning of 24 transmission projects being executed by APTransco at an estimated cost of Rs 3,507 crore between June and December.

Reviewing the progress of various transmission projects at a meeting held at Vidyut Soudha in Vijayawada, Vijayanand said the government and APTransco are committed to providing quality, reliable and uninterrupted power supply to agriculture, industries, commercial establishments and domestic consumers.

He stressed the need to expedite the implementation of 400 kV, 220 kV and 132 kV transmission projects to meet the State’s growing power demand and strengthen its transmission infrastructure.

During the meeting, officials informed him that APTransco has already commissioned three 400 kV substations, eight 220 kV substations and 21 substations of 132 kV capacity. Additionally 1,465 MVA of transformation capacity and 571 circuit kilometres of transmission lines added to the State grid, they said.

Also, they said a total of 68 transmission projects, involving an investment of Rs.5,279 crore, are currently under various stages of execution. Once completed, these projects would add 15,224.50 MVA of transformation capacity and 1,828 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, they explained.

Vijayanand directed officials to closely monitor the works and complete them within the stipulated timelines while maintaining high-quality standards. He also noted that tenders have been floated for 29 new transmission projects, which are expected to create an additional transformation capacity of 4,520 MVA and establish 700 circuit kilometres of transmission lines. Besides, 72 more projects are in the planning stage and tenders for these works are expected to be floated within the next three months.

Reviewing the action plan for the inauguration of the 24 completed transmission projects, Vijayanand said these projects would significantly improve grid stability, reduce transmission losses and support the industrial, agricultural and socio-economic development of the state Reiterating APTransco’s commitment to meeting the state’s future energy requirements, he said the utility is focused on building a robust, modern and future-ready transmission network capable of supporting Andhra Pradesh’s long-term growth and development.

The meeting was attended by directors A K V Bhaskar, J V Rao, and Venkata Ramanamurthy, along with chief engineers and superintending engineers.
