NorthernPower Distribution Company of Telangana (NPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director Karnati Varun Reddy directed officials to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply to consumers across Nirmal district during a tour of the Nirmal Circle on Tuesday.

The CMD inspected rain-damaged power lines in Lingapur village of Kadam section and Maskapur village of Khanapur section. Reviewing the situation with officials, he stressed the need for immediate preventive measures to minimise disruptions caused by falling tree branches and adverse weather conditions during the monsoon season.

Later, he visited the 33/11 kV Kadam substation and reviewed its performance, maintenance standards and consumer services. He instructed officials to improve planning and reduce power interruptions.

Varun Reddy ordered the installation of covered conductors on 33 kV lines passing through forest areas in Kadam and Pembi to prevent outages caused by falling branches.

He also reviewed alternative power supply arrangements being developed for substations in Kadam, Pembi and Dasturabad to ensure continuity of service during heavy rains and strong winds. The CMD said a new 132 kV substation had been sanctioned for Tallapet, while the Nirmal 220 kV–Khanapur 132 kV line would be converted into a double-circuit line to strengthen the network.

Emphasising safety, he directed operations and maintenance staff to strictly follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment during repair and maintenance works. He warned that negligence in addressing power interruptions would not be tolerated and called for prompt resolution of consumer grievances.
