FormerMinister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader Harish Rao on Monday alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfil its promises to farmers, students, unemployed youth and weaker sections while increasing the financial burden on the public.

Addressing an extended-level BRS workers’ meeting at Alugunur village in Manakondur constituency, Harish Rao said the Congress administration had replaced welfare with corruption and alleged irregularities in civil supplies, Singareni, power, land transactions and Gurukul institutions. He claimed that contracts worth around Rs 2,000 crore in Gurukul institutions were awarded under suspicious circumstances.

Rao alleged that farmers were facing hardships due to delays in paddy procurement, fertilizer shortages and non-payment of insurance premiums under the Rythu Bima scheme. He also claimed that nearly Rs 19,000 crore in Rythu Bandhu assistance remained pending and demanded its immediate release.

Criticising the government’s handling of education and employment, he alleged that around 30 lakh students were affected by delays in fee reimbursement and that only about 16,000 government jobs had been filled despite a promise of two lakh appointments.

He also appealed to BRS workers to actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls beginning on June 25 and ensure that no genuine voter was left out during the verification process.
