Rajamahendravaram:Police arrested eight persons in connection with the sale and consumption of Ganja (cannabis) in Nidadavole town, Circle Inspector PVG Tilak said on Tuesday.

According to the police, three people were caught while allegedly selling cannabis on a road near a school in the town.

The accused were identified as Talada Sai Ajay of Hukkampeta and Sheikh Rahim and Mohammed Saleem of Samisragudem in Nidadavole mandal. “About 500 grams of cannabis was seized from their possession during the operation,” the CI said. In a related action, police also arrested five others who were allegedly consuming cannabis. “Another 100 grams of cannabis and Rs 1,000 in cash were recovered from them,” Tilak stated. All eight accused were taken into custody and cases were registered against them. Further investigation is underway.
