NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha stated that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process for electoral rolls is progressing smoothly in the district. The objective of this initiative is to ensure that every eligible citizen can exercise their voting rights and to prepare a transparent and error-free voters’ list, in accordance with the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India (ECI), he said.

The collector inspected the door-to-door distribution of enumeration forms by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at Ithavaram village in Nandigama mandal on Tuesday. During the visit, he directed the BLOs to carry out their duties meticulously without any errors and strictly adhere to the Election Commission’s guidelines. He also instructed officials to assist voters in filling up the enumeration forms and ensure that all eligible citizens are included in the electoral rolls. Dr Lakshmisha said that 1,792 BLOs are conducting the house-to-house survey across the district as per the schedule prescribed by the Election Commission.

He explained that after the completion of the survey, the draft electoral rolls would be published on July 21.

Claims and objections can be submitted between July 21 and August 20, following which the objections would be resolved and the final electoral rolls would be published on September 22.

The Collector said the revision exercise aims to include all eligible voters while removing the names of ineligible persons, deceased voters, those who have permanently migrated and duplicate entries from the electoral rolls.

Appealing to the public to actively participate in the exercise, Dr Lakshmisha said the cooperation of citizens is essential for preparing aclean, healthy and transparent voters’ list in the district.
