DistrictCollector Dr S Venkateswar expressed concern over the slow progress of voter list mapping work in some polling booths in Tirupati district.

He directed officials to speed up the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 programme and complete the process within the deadline set by the Election Commission of India.

During a virtual review meeting on Tuesday, the Collector said the responsibility of completing the voter list mapping process within the stipulated time rests with the concerned officials.

Officials who are lagging behind in the work were instructed to improve their performance immediately.

Dr Venkateswar directed officials to conduct door-to-door verification of voters and carefully update voter details. Special attention should be given to ensuring that the electoral rolls are free from errors, duplicate entries and names of ineligible persons.

He asked officials to complete mapping, household surveys and data updation activities within the prescribed time frame. Daily targets should be fixed and achieved without fail, he said.

The Collector warned that departmental and disciplinary action would be taken against officials and staff who neglect their duties.
