Ina major relief to aspiring teachers, the state government has relaxed the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) requirement for candidates applying for various posts in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs).

Announcing the decision on Tuesday, Samagra Shiksha state project director (SPD) B Srinivasa Rao said candidates applying for the posts of principals, contract residential teachers (CRTs) and post graduate teachers (PGTs) in KGBVs need not possess TET qualification at the time of application.

The state project director also extended the last date for submission of applications from the original deadline to June 20, giving more time for eligible candidates to apply. He said that the original recruitment notification for filling vacancies in KGBVs was issued on May 25.

The state project director further clarified that candidates who have already submitted their applications under the earlier notification need not apply again, as their applications will remain valid. Under the revised recruitment guidelines, applicants without APTET qualification can participate in the selection process. However, candidates selected for the posts must qualify the APTET within one year from the date of joining service. Srinivasa Rao clarified that failure to obtain the TET qualification within the stipulated one-year period would result in automatic termination of service without prior notice.
