CPI State Secretary and Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao warned that the Congress government could face a massive public agitation if it failed to honour the promises made during the Assembly elections. He demanded immediate implementation of welfare commitments, including the distribution of house site pattas to poor families residing in huts on government lands and the sanctioning of Indiramma houses for the homeless.

Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the CPI office named after Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy Nagar at Bhuporata Centre in Gundla Singaram on Tuesday, Kunamneni said lakhs of poor families across Telangana were still struggling without permanent housing even after decades of Independence. The programme was attended by CPI State Assistant Secretary Takkallapalli Srinivasa Rao and other party leaders.

He said the Communist movement had consistently fought for the rights of the poor and landless, leading several struggles for housing and land rights. Criticising both the State and Central governments, he alleged that pro-poor policies were being neglected while corporate interests were receiving priority.

Kunamneni assured residents of Gundla Singaram that he would take up the issue of house site pattas with officials, local representatives and, if necessary, the Chief Minister. CPI leaders also demanded basic civic amenities, including drinking water, electricity and sanitation facilities, for the colony.
