Textbookdistribution for students was held on Tuesday at the ZPHS in Pebbair. In-charge DEO Yadaiah, the chief guest, emphasised the importance of discipline and responsibility in the education system. He expressed concern that 99 teachers in the district were absent from duty on only the second day after schools reopened.

The DEO said it was troubling that the very teachers responsible for educating students and shaping their future had failed to report for work. “Education has the power to transform society. If teachers who provide that education neglect their responsibilities, students’ discipline and interest in learning will suffer. Every teacher should recognise their duty, report to work on time, and serve as a role model for students,” he said.

Later, public representatives stated that the government was giving special priority to development of government schools. It was committed to providing quality education to students while ensuring that schools have the necessary infrastructure and that teachers receive the facilities they need.

Municipal chairman Akki Srinivas Goud, vice-chairman Sumitra, MEO Jayaramulu, local councillor Soujanya, market committee chairman and vice-chairman, teachers and students were present.
