Stronglycondemning the growing trend of misogyny in political discourse, Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy on Tuesday slammed former YSRCP Minister Gudivada Amarnath for his highly objectionable comments targeting State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha.

Addressing a press conference at her camp office in Nellore, Prashanthi Reddy stated that turning political opposition into personal mockery regarding a woman’s appearance, attire, or makeup is a shameful low.

She emphasized that robust political debates must remain strictly centered around policy decisions, public welfare, and institutional governance.

The legislator highlighted that Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha is a self-made leader who rose from a modest background, beginning her career as a school teacher before rising to head the state’s law and order wing through sheer merit.

She noted that launching personal tirades against a Dalit woman leader who achieved success through grit sends a dangerous, regressive signal to society.

Prashanthi Reddy underscored that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu are actively driving women’s political integration by championing the 33% legislative reservation. She warned that attempts by political rivals to belittle women in public life would completely fail. Reminding opposition leaders that everyone has mothers, wives, and sisters in their households, she urged politicians to maintain absolute restraint and respect to ensure more women feel safe entering the democratic mainstream.
