GMC commissioner K Mayur Ashok stated that a ward-wise special action plan has been prepared under “Operation Clean Sweep” to transform Guntur into a clean and hygienic city within four weeks through public participation. As part of the State Government’s directions to improve sanitation, he launched the four-week special sanitation drive, Operation Clean Sweep, at Naz Centre on Saturday , by initiating intensive cleaning activities on six major roads with 50 sanitation workers deployed per road.

Special waste bags would be distributed to street vendors, and they were instructed to deposit waste in those bags and hand it over only to sanitation workers visiting during morning or evening hours.

Later, he formally flagged off Operation Clean Sweep, participated in sweeping activities along the main roads with sanitation workers, and took part in an awareness rally up to Kothapeta.
