Politicaltensions flared in Yarkaram village of Suryapet here on Saturday after BRS leader and former sarpanch’s husband Chintalapati Madhu was allegedly murdered by unidentified assailants. According to locals, the attackers killed him, packed the body in a gunny bag, and dumped it near Yarkaram stage area before fleeing the spot.

The incident came to light after locals noticed the suspicious bag and alerted the police. Officers rushed to the scene, took custody of the body, and shifted it to Suryapet General Hospital for postmortem examination.

The deceased’s wife alleged that her husband was murdered due to political rivalry and personal enmity. Following the incident, tension prevailed in the village, prompting authorities to deploy heavy police security to maintain law and order.

Sources said that Madhu was previously an accused in two murder cases. However, police are continuing their investigation, and further details regarding the murder are yet to be officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, former minister and MLA G Jagadish Reddy alleged that the Congress party is encouraging murder politics in the state. Speaking to the media after paying tributes to slain leader in Suryapet, he claimed that the murder was a result of the Congress government’s failure and questioned the role of the police in the incident.

Jagadish Reddy accused Congress leaders and police officials of harassing BRS workers and weakening earlier murder cases involving party leaders. He also criticised the sudden change of the public prosecutor in a previous case.
