GovernorShiv Pratap Shukla and his wife performed special prayers at Sri Kaleshwar Mukteshwar Swami temple here on Friday.

The couple had taken part in the Pushkar baths at the Triveni Sangam and watched the Saraswati Navaratna Mala aarti and the cultural programmes held on Thursday night.

When they arrived at the Mukteshwar Swami temple, the Endowments Department Commissioner Hanumantharao, temple priests and others gave them a grand welcome with parivattam, poornakumbham, and auspicious musical instruments.

The Governor and his wife performed special pujas to the Swami. Afterwards the temple priests offered blessings and presented white garments, laddu prasadam, sakkara pongali, and a memento of the goddess.

The Governor then toured the exhibition stalls displaying Mahadevapoor dasali silk garments with keen interest. IT and Industries Minister explained the tassar silk weaving process to the Governor during the event.

District Collector Rahul Sharma, District SP Sirishetti Sankirth, and other district officials attended the programme.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said the Saraswati Antya Pushkaras are being held with great splendour. He noted that the Navaratna Mala aarti by the Kashi pandits at the Saraswati ghat and the cultural programs reflect India’s spiritual traditions. He expressed satisfaction with the state government’s comprehensive arrangements to ensure devotees face no inconvenience.

He hoped that devotees who performed the sacred Pushkar baths at the Triveni Sangam would receive the goddess’s blessings.
