TheState government’s prestigious sanitation initiative ‘Operation Clean Sweep’ was launched in Bapatla town on Friday with the active participation from local authorities and public representatives. The programme was launched near Sri Ksheera Bhavanarayana Swamy Temple under the leadership of Bapatla MLA Dr Vegesana Narendra Varma Raju. Demonstrating commitment towards cleanliness and civic responsibility, the MLA personally joined sanitation workers in sweeping roads, clearing garbage, and loading waste into municipal tractors. His active involvement in sanitation work earned appreciation from residents and municipal workers alike. As part of the drive, the MLA inspected roads and footpaths, stressing that public spaces should remain accessible and free from encroachments. To ensure pedestrian convenience, flex banners tied to footpath poles during his birthday celebrations were removed under his supervision. He also instructed roadside vendors operating beyond designated margins and obstructing traffic to shift within permitted limits.

Addressing the public, MLA Narendra Varma urged citizens and traders to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and transforming Bapatla into a clean, beautiful, and pedestrian-friendly town. Municipal Commissioner Raghunath Reddy and Jana Sena leaders were present.
