RajahmundryMP Daggubati Purandeswari has stated that the State government is taking comprehensive measures at all levels to grandly organise the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams.

On Friday, the MP, alongside Kovvur MLA Muppidi Venkateswara Rao, Joint Collector Y Megha Swaroop and other senior officials, inspected Gonguralanka region falling under Kovvur constituency.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Purandeswari shared that she, along with district Collector Kirthi Chekuri and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rahul Meena, had met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday to discuss the arrangements for Godavari Pushkarams. The discussions primarily focused on the modernisation of bathing ghats, widening of roads and providing essential amenities for the visiting pilgrims. She added that the Chief Minister assured full cooperation from the government and directed the officials to review the progress of work periodically to ensure seamless execution.

The MP further revealed that active steps are being taken to develop Gonguralanka area into a prominent tourist destination. Following proposals to establish a special theme park in the area, joint inspection was conducted to assess the ground realities. She expressed optimism about developing the theme park by the commencement of the Pushkarams. A high-level meeting with the concerned departments will be convened within the next 20 days to take a definitive decision on the project, she added.

MLA Muppidi Venkateswara Rao emphasised that Gonguralanka possesses immense potential to be developed into a major tourism hub.

Joint Collector Megha Swaroop noted that the field inspection was carried out through the coordinated efforts of the Revenue, Irrigation, and Tourism departments.

The inspection team included Tourism Regional Director NVVSN Murthy, Godavari Headworks Executive Engineer (EE) G Srinivasa Rao, District Tourism Officer P Venkatachalam, Tahsildar D Durga Prasad, and MPP Kakarla Narayudu, among others.
