EndowmentsMinister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy on Friday issued a stern directive to district authorities to significantly accelerate all ongoing development works and ensure the timely completion of crucial irrigation and drinking water projects ahead of the upcoming Kharif cultivation season.

The Minister conducted a comprehensive multi-department review meeting with top district-level and constituency-level administrative officials at the R&B guest house in Atmakur.

Addressing the officials, the Minister noted that Nellore district has consistently emerged as a frontrunner in the implementation of state welfare and infrastructure programs.

He attributed this success to the seamless coordination between public representatives and the administrative machinery, sharing that the district’s high performance has earned direct appreciation from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

He urged the officials to draw inspiration from the Chief Minister’s governance vision to speed up project deliveries.

Turning his focus to agriculture, the Minister minutely reviewed the operational status of the Somasila and Telugu Ganga projects.

He sought detailed progress reports on canal repairs and expressed clear dissatisfaction over the slow pace of certain distribution lines.

He instructed engineers to immediately fast-track canal works sanctioned under Cyclone Relief and Flood Damage Repair (FDR) grants.

The Minister emphasized that all repairs, particularly along the critical North and South Canals of the Somasila project, must be wrapped up without further delay to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to local farmers as soon as the crop season begins.

He noted that 440 minor and medium irrigation projects worth ₹3,212 crore are being executed to secure the district’s farming needs.

On rural drinking water supply, Minister Anam reviewed the expansive coverage under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), which features 336 projects worth ₹6,588 crore under active execution. He gave strict orders to the engineering wings to ensure that no village or habitation faces water scarcity during the peak summer months.

To achieve this, he directed authorities to fully restore and functionalize all defunct Comprehensive Piped Water Supply (CPWS) and NTR Sujala Sravanthi water plants.

Additionally, the Minister evaluated urban development works in Atmakur municipality, where roads, drainage networks, and protected drinking water facilities are being upgraded under the AMRUT scheme at an investment of ₹36 crore, calling for strong inter-departmental synergy to prevent missed deadlines.
