Retreatingthe government‘s commitment towards ushering an era of development on the city outskirts, Chief Whip Patnam Mahender Reddy said on Friday that, “the government’s core urban planning project ‘the future city’ will be a haven for global investments in coming days.”

Addressing a district-level event organized as part of the 99 days Praja Palana program at the collectorate complex, he said the government is moving forward with dual objectives such as development and welfare. The program is not just ensuring the implementation of welfare schemes for all eligible, but facilitating identification and understanding of issues faced by people.

“During the last two years, the Chief Whip said, the RR district witnessed a blistering pace of development and welfare initiatives. Besides, he stated, financial assistance under Rythu Bharosa scheme amounting to Rs.722 crore was disbursed among 2,97,000 farmers.

Additionally, he said, 735 peasant families benefited with Rs.367 crore under the Rythu Bima Scheme. As many as 16,050 Indiramma houses were sanctioned for the homeless families for which Rs.22 crore has been released for the beneficiaries.

To ensure adequate food supply to eligible families, the government sanctioned 1,06,000 ration cards in the district benefitting 3,52,000 individuals. He listed the benefits under schemes such as Aasara Pension, Indiramma Sarees and free travel scheme for women being implemented in the district.

Reddy brushed aside the allegations made by the Opposition regarding the Future City project by terming it as inappropriate. He said, the Future City will emerge as a haven for investments not just for Telangana but for the whole global trade fraternity.

Earlier, collector C Narayan Reddy explained development and welfare activities being taken up as part of the Praja Palana program as well as achievements. Double bed-room houses would be allocated to beneficiaries through a lottery system. Besides free electricity will be provided to beneficiaries under Gruha Jyothi Scheme. Ration cards would be issued to families.

Officials from various departments placed detailed reports through Power Point presentations. Later, bank loan cheques were distributed among beneficiaries of Mahila Shakti Groups, Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubrak schemes.
