BRS Working President KT Rama Rao on Friday alleged that a young woman in Telangana suffered injustice due to the collusion between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay.

Speaking sharply against the State Government, KTR accused the Chief Minister of intimidating the victim’s family, orchestrating a counter-case against them, and shielding the accused for nine days.

Rao condemned the “reckless remarks” made by the CM on the case, asserting that it was the State Government that subjected the minor girl to severe distress, forcing her to wait at the police station until midnight when she went there with her parents to report the injustice. He questioned how the accused was allowed to remain at large for over a week, alleging it was due to the “close ties” between Bandi Sanjay and Revanth Reddy.

“The accused was finally arrested only after the High Court refused to grant bail, and after public outrage across Telangana,” KTR said. He criticised the CM, who also holds the Home portfolio, for offering excuses like, “The police were, too, busy due to the Prime Minister’s visit.” KTR questioned whether the Prime Minister’s visit justified allowing associates to roam freely while crimes went unchecked.

KTR said his party had maintained silence out of sensitivity toward the young girl, avoiding politicisation of the matter. However, he was compelled to speak after the CM levelled criticism against BRS.

He demanded clarity on whether there was any other instance in the country where an accused in a POCSO case was shielded for nine days. Reports suggest the accused was allegedly sheltered in a hospital owned by a close associate of the Chief Minister. KTR called for a thorough government inquiry into the matter. He challenged both Bandi Sanjay and the CM to reveal who orchestrated the conspiracy to file a counter-case alleging a “honey trap” against the victim’s family. KTR also alleged that the two leaders personally contacted media offices to suppress the publication of reports exposing the case.

Concluding his statement, KTR asserted that whenever injustice is committed against women in Telangana, it is the BRS that steps forward to fight for justice, and accused the ruling government of failing its duty to protect the vulnerable.
