Directorof Adult Education P Ranjith Basha conducted a surprise inspection of the ‘Akshara Andhra’ adult education centre at Ashok Nagar here on Tuesday. During the inspection, he interacted directly with women learners attending the centre and enquired about their learning experience and the teaching methods being followed.

He reviewed the progress being made by the learners under the government’s literacy initiatives aimed at eliminating illiteracy.

To encourage the learners, the Director himself took to the blackboard and taught basic mathematical concepts such as addition and subtraction using simple, practical examples. He explained how basic calculations could be applied in everyday life and encouraged the women to develop confidence in using their newly acquired skills.

He also examined attendance registers, learners’ workbooks and teaching material related to the ULLAS programme.

He enquired whether classes were being conducted regularly and reviewed the records maintained at the centre.
