Statingthat Singareni Collieries Company Limited represents a vital source of wealth for Telangana, BRS Working President KTR on Tuesday criticized the Congress government for undermining the organization and trampling upon worker welfare. In an open letter addressed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, KTR asserted that despite three years having passed since assuming power, the administration completely failed to fulfill electoral commitments made to the mining workforce. He expressed severe concern over the government approach regarding Dasara bonus payments, alleging that workers who generate thousands of crores in profits are being denied their legitimate share.

Detailing financial discrepancies, KTR highlighted that in the 2023-24 financial year, Singareni generated a net profit of Rs 4,701 crore, from which a 33 per cent share equalled Rs 1,551 crore. However, only Rs 796 crore was disbursed to workers, marking a substantial reduction in legitimate dues. Similarly, despite net profits reaching Rs 6,394 crore in the 2024-25 financial year, workers received only Rs 819 crore as profit bonus. KTR emphasized that accumulated profit bonus dues for the 2023 to 2025 period total Rs 2,342 crore, demanding immediate payment to eligible employees.

He further noted that the state enterprise faces severe financial strain due to outstanding dues of approximately Rs 60,000 crore owed by power utilities Transco and Genco. Expressing alarm over reports that the company might require bank loans to meet monthly salary obligations, KTR raised serious questions regarding the future stability of the public sector unit. The BRS leader firmly demanded that the Chief Minister refrain from selling Singareni equity shares, questioning why disinvestment is being contemplated when the organization requires institutional strengthening. Concluding his demands, KTR insisted that Singareni workers must be granted a profit share exceeding 36 per cent based on actual financial returns.
