Ina significant step in bringing about a sea-change in quality of living in the rural areas, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan at Kakolluvaripalem in Udayagiri Constituency in Nellore district on Tuesday launched development work worth Rs11,085 crore under Palle Panduga 3.0.

Addressing the gathering, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh is making rapid strides in various spheres due to active support from the Government of India under the Prime Ministership of Modi. He said the 'double engine ki sarkar' is implementing Palle Panduga 3.0 to change the lifestyle of the rural population by improving the basic amenities and quality of living and basic amenities. Sustainable practices are being encouraged in a big way, he stated.

Showering praises on Pawan Kalyan, he said the Jana Sena founder as Rural Development Minister has brought many changes in the department. He is also credited with bringing several changes in the Panchayat Raj Department.

In his remarks, Pawan Kalyan declared that the Palle Pandaga 3.0 will change the face of the villages and came down heavily on the previous YSRCP regime for neglecting the rural development and panchayat raj portfolios by not releasing adequate funds.

The launching of works was marked by unveiling of plague by the Chief Minister, Deputy CM and BJP State President PVN Madhav, who were given a grand welcome on arrival at the meeting venue.

The works to be funded by the Centre and the State Government jointly were kicked off amid loud cheers by a mammoth gathering. Under the programme, CC roads will be laid in villages covering 6,000 km at a cost of Rs2,700 crore. BT road works covering 9,500 km will be taken up at a cost of Rs7,550 crore. Around 22,000 mini Gokulams (cattle sheds) will be constructed to benefit dairy farmers at a cost of Rs300 crore. The Horticulture Department is making arrangements to take up plantation activities across 50,000 acres at a cost of Rs225 crore and 1,000 km of magic drains will be developed at a cost of Rs110 crore.

Bus shelters, gram panchayat buildings, Rachabandas and other works will be taken up at a cost of Rs200 crore. Of the total Rs11,085 crore, the Central share will be Rs5,391 crore and the State will fund the remaining amount. Works worth Rs1,750 crore will be taken up under VB-G RAM G, Rs3,800 crore under the Global Horticulture Hub, and another Rs2,000 crore through NABARD, SASKI and other funds.

Under Palle Panduga 1.0, the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department laid 4,000 km of CC roads, 22,514 cattle sheds, 21,000 farm ponds and horticulture plantations across 64,000 acres. Under Palle Panduga 2.0, works included 2,500 km of CC roads, 8,300 km of BT roads, 15,750 cattle sheds, 15,500 cattle water troughs, 86,000 farm ponds, 82,000 individual soak pits and 32 km of magic drains.
