A middle-aged man from Karimnagar, who had been battling hydrocephalus for over a decade, finally found relief after undergoing an advanced brain procedure at Medicover Hospitals in Hyderabad. According to hospital sources, the patient had endured years of recurring health complications and had previously undergone multiple shunt surgeries. However, these procedures failed due to repeated blockages and infections, forcing him to undergo further interventions over time.

Upon detailed evaluation, a team of doctors led by Dr Ramesh Shighakolli decided against performing another conventional shunt surgery. Instead, they opted for a neuroendoscopic procedure, a minimally invasive approach aimed at addressing the root cause more effectively.

Explaining the procedure, Dr Ramesh Shighakolli said it allows cerebrospinal fluid to drain through a natural pathway within the brain, thereby reducing dependence on artificial shunts and lowering the risk of recurring complications. The surgery was carried out successfully, following which the patient began showing rapid signs of improvement. Doctors reported that he experienced significant relief from chronic headaches and showed enhanced alertness within a short period.

Hospital authorities further stated that even after four months of the procedure, the patient remained stable and had not required any additional surgical intervention, marking a significant improvement in his quality of life.

Medical experts noted that such advanced neuroendoscopic techniques are increasingly offering long-term solutions for patients suffering from recurrent neurological disorders, reducing the need for repeated surgeries.
