ChiefMinister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by the Bapatla district police to reduce road accidents.

He inspected the stall set up by the Bapatla District Police Department and expressed satisfaction with the measures being implemented to prevent road accidents.

He attended ‘Mee Bhoomi – Mee Hakku’ programme held on Thursday at Surepalli village in Bhattiprolu mandal of Bapatla district, where Pattadar passbooks with the government seal were distributed. On this occasion, he visited the police department stall set up at the public meeting venue.

During the visit, Superintendent of Police B Umamaheshwar briefed the CM on various initiatives undertaken to reduce road accidents.

He explained that the “Shiro Raksha – Prana Raksha” programme is being implemented to create widespread awareness about helmet usage. He further informed that wearing helmets will be made mandatory from April 15, and the “No Helmet – No Fuel” policy will be enforced, especially in the district headquarters. To strengthen road safety, six special road safety squads have been deployed to conduct continuous inspections.

Over the past six- months, in coordination with NH authorities, 20 black spots and 78 accident-prone locations have been identified, where safety measures such as speed breakers and reflective barricades have been installed.

Additionally, innovative methods like “Face Wash and Go” to prevent driver fatigue and advanced drone surveillance are being effectively utilised. As a result of these sustained efforts, the district has recorded a 9.47% reduction in road accidents and an 11.63% reduction in fatalities caused by road accidents.

After reviewing these statistics, Naidu expressed satisfaction with the initiatives undertaken by the SP to curb road accidents.
