Guntur:Chairman of Swachh Andhra Corporation Kommareddy Pattabhiram visited Sattenapalli town and inspected the municipal dumping yard on Thursday.

He conducted an awareness programme with municipal sanitation workers and emphasised the need for improving sanitation standards in the town. He stated that the government is giving top priority to cleanliness and public health.

He announced that nearly 19,000 metric tonnes of garbage accumulated at the dumping yard will be cleared at the earliest. He alleged that irregularities and corruption had taken place at the dumping yard during the previous YSRCP regime and said that proper attention was not given to municipal administration. He further assured that the existing dumping yard will be cleared and developed into a park for public use. He also announced that a sewage treatment plant will be established in Sattenapalli with an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore. He said that flood-prone areas in the town have been identified and necessary measures are being taken to prevent waterlogging and flooding.

He added that Sattenapalli municipality is currently ranked 20th at the state level and efforts are being made to further improve its performance
