HomeMinister Vangalapudi Anitha inaugurated the newly constructed Women Police Station building with modern facilities here on Thursday. The building was constructed on 30 cents of land at a cost of Rs 2.73 crore, with all modern amenities. It is a two-storied structure. Special features include a child care centre. A dedicated children’s play area has been arranged for women visiting the station along with their children.

On the occasion, the home minister stated that she felt concerned after observing the poor condition of the previously functioning police station. She appreciated the officers who worked in such inadequate conditions. She emphasised that the main objective of the new building is to create a safe and friendly environment where women can express their problems without fear—just like they would share their concerns at their parental home.

During the event, the Eluru District SP, K Pratap Shiva Kishore, launched a specially designed ‘She Box.’ Women who are unable to come to the police station can record their complaints through voice at the ‘She Box.’ The system will automatically generate a report and forward it to the concerned authorities via the Dharma App legal support system.

The event was attended by several dignitaries including district collector K Vetri Selvi, Eluru Range IG GVG Ashok Kumar, Eluru MLA Badeti Chanti, Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, Unguturu MLA P Dharmaraju, APSRTC Vijayawada Region Chairman Reddy Appala Naidu, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Ghanta Padma, Eluru Mayor Noorjahan, senior police officials and public representatives. After inspecting the building, the home minister appreciated the performance of the police department. Later, she visited the Eluru Traffic Crossroad Park, where awareness about traffic rules is being created for students from a young age. The minister appreciated the SP for this initiative.
