Atense situation prevailed outside KIMS hospital in the city on Thursday following the death of a 69-year-old man, identified as A. Venkata Ramana Reddy, a resident of Uppalapadu village in Orvakal mandal. The deceased had reportedly undergone a surgical procedure at the hospital, after which he was declared dead, triggering protests by his family members and relatives.

The grieving family has alleged that medical negligence led to his death. They claimed that the treatment provided resembled scenes from the Telugu film Tagore, accusing the hospital of unethical practices. According to the relatives, the surgery was conducted in the absence of a senior doctor, allegedly by junior doctors, and there is no clarity on who actually performed the operation.

Family members questioned how the patient could die within minutes of doctors declaring the operation successful. They expressed suspicion over the sequence of events, stating that the patient was taken into the operation theatre and returned lifeless shortly thereafter. The relatives alleged that the hospital attempted to mislead them by claiming the surgery was successful despite the patient already being in a critical condition.

Demanding accountability, the family staged a protest in front of the KIMS hospital, insisting on a clear explanation from the management. They called for the immediate closure of the hospital and registration of criminal cases against those responsible. With a large number of relatives gathering at the premises and raising slogans, the situation turned tense, prompting concerns over law and order in the area.

Police rushed to the spot and took stock of the situations. On the assurance given by the police personnel to file a case on the authorities responsible, the victim family members gave up the protest.
