Transport operators are arguing that the revised charges imposed by the government constitute an unfair financial burden. The vehicle owners claimed that reflective or radium tapes, originally priced between Rs 70 and Rs 80 per metre, are now being sold for Rs 150 per metre and more. This price hike occurred after licences were reportedly granted to private companies, placing an undue strain on the transport community.</lang>

The fixing of these stickers is strictly linked to the renewal of vehicle fitness certificates. Government officials have made it clear that these tapes must comply with AIS-089 and AIS-090 standards to increase road safety and reduce accidents at night.</lang>
