HealthMinister Damodar Raja Narsimha on Thursday said the government is establishing 31 trauma care blocks in the state. Of these, nine have been completed, while 21 are under construction and are expected to be operational by the end of this year.

The Minister on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 100-bed critical care block in Kondapur.

Speaking to the media, the minister said that the government had launched a comprehensive trauma care policy aimed at saving lives by ensuring the immediate transport of victims to hospitals during road accidents and other emergency situations.

As part of this initiative, the government was establishing 109 Trauma Care Centres equipped with all necessary facilities along national and state highways across the state. “We are strengthening the emergency response system to ensure that assistance reaches the scene of a road accident or other emergency within 10 minutes of its occurrence,” said Raja Narsimha.

The minister further said that in furtherance of this effort, the government was increasing the number of 108 ambulances. “We are establishing 31 critical care blocks across the state. Critical care blocks have already been inaugurated in Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Mahbubabad, Jagtial, Sangareddy, Narayanpet and Adilabad.

The construction of another 21 critical care blocks (CCBs) was currently underway; we aim to make all of them operational by the end of this year,” he said adding, today, he had laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 100-bed critical care block in Kondapur, at an estimated cost of Rs 41 crore.
