WarangalMember of Parliament Kadiyam Kavya stressed the urgent need for widespread awareness on women’s health issues during the Safe Motherhood Day programme held in Hanumakonda district on Wednesday.

The event was organised under the Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika initiative by the District Medical and Health Department at the Integrated Collectorate office. The programme was attended by MLA Naini Rajender Reddy, Mayor Gundu Sudharani, Deputy Mayor Rizwana Shameem Masood and District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Appaiah.

Addressing the gathering, MP Kavya emphasised that awareness about women’s health played a crucial role in ensuring safe motherhood. She highlighted the importance of consuming iron and folic acid tablets prior to pregnancy, maintaining proper nutrition, and seeking timely medical guidance. She also underlined the need for pregnant women to undergo essential tests, particularly TIFFA scans, without delay.

The MP further spoke about the importance of postnatal mental health care and encouraged the promotion of normal deliveries. She noted that improved awareness of family planning could significantly enhance maternal and child health outcomes.

MLA Rajender Reddy stated that government schemes aimed at protecting women’s health must effectively reach the grassroots.

He stressed the need to ensure accessible healthcare services in both rural and urban areas and called for adequate medical facilities for pregnant women and lactating mothers. He also urged ASHA workers and health staff to actively spread awareness among the public.

Mayor Sudharani observed that the health of women and children was fundamental to the development of society and called for collective efforts to strengthen maternal and child healthcare initiatives.

DMHO Dr. Appaiah informed that timely medical services were being provided to pregnant women, including the distribution of iron tablets, vaccinations, and regular health check-ups.

He advised that all expectant mothers should remain under proper medical supervision throughout their pregnancy.
