MunicipalCorporation Commissioner N Mourya instructed Eat Street shop owners to strictly follow government rules while running their businesses.

A lucky draw for allotting 14 shops on Eat Street, built opposite the municipal office with Central government funds, was held transparently at Kacchapi Auditorium here on Wednesday. Commissioner Mourya conducted the event.

Out of these, 13 shops were allotted through lottery to applicants, while shop number 10 went directly to I Stone Company.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said shop owners must adhere to Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines. She further stated that they should provide quality food to the public, avoid using expired or stored items, and not charge excess prices. Food preparation must be done only by healthy staff, and shop surroundings should remain clean with proper use of wet and dry waste bins. Plastic covers and single-use plastics are banned, and violators will face action. She emphasised maintaining quality and hygiene in food items.

Deputy Commissioner Amaraiah, Revenue Officers Sethu Madhav and Ravi, Health Officer Dr Yuva Anvesh, Food Safety Officers Venkateswara Rao and Jagadeesh were present.
