SriVenkateswara University (SVU) celebrated Golden Jubilee of the Centre for South East Asian and Pacific Studies (CSEAPS) on Wednesday, marking 50 years of academic service and research.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Tata Narasinga Rao attended the programme as chief guest along with Rector Prof Ch Appa Rao. They appreciated the steady growth of the department and its contribution to academic research, stating that CSEAPS has emerged as one of the premier centres in the country in its field.

Former Professor Lakshmana Shetty, who presided over the event, recalled that the centre began as Indo-China Studies under Department of History and later developed into an independent centre under the Area Studies Programme.

Alumna Bhanu Sri Reddy expressed happiness over the department’s progress and its national recognition. Former Directors K Raja Reddy, Muniratnam Reddy, Jayachandra Reddy, present Director Vooka Ramesh Babu, faculty members, research scholars, and alumni attended the celebrations.
