TheState Government Pensioners Association, located at the local 'C' Camp, organized the birth anniversary celebrations of DS Nakara.

Following this event, the association held its regular monthly meeting, which is customarily conducted on the second Wednesday of every month.

Speaking on the occasion, A Maddileti Reddy (Secretary, State Government Pensioners Association) and Kotla Linganna (President, Kurnool District State Government Pensioners Association) highlighted the legacy of DS Nakara (1914–2009).

They noted that Nakara had served as the former Financial Advisor to the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. They hailed him as a champion who fought for the rights of millions of pensioners across the country, citing a historic case he filed against the Central Government in 1983.

In that landmark case, the Supreme Court delivered a pivotal verdict declaring that "pension is not a bounty [gift] given, but a right of the employee."

The Court further ruled that there should be no discrimination in pensions based on the date of retirement and affirmed that all pensioners possess equal rights. This judgment brought about revolutionary changes in the pension system.
